I NEED VELCRO!

I need to velcro my butt to the studio chair as I am having trouble staying there! It is just beautiful out and after a long winter and being inside so much it is hard not to be out in it! I have been out since 5:30am and I need to come in.
I have been working on the demo for Bend, Oregon where I will teach at Art in the Mountains. This will be the demo for Calgary, Alberta as well...I think it will be a difficult but fun piece for everyone.
So here is the lake! And why I just had to be outside!!!

What an explosion of color! You could use every color in the Crayola box on this one.

OMG! If I had a view like that it would take more than velcro to hold me down!!!! Just beautiful!

By the way, I'm a little curious, just where does that rectangular hole on the right side of the picture go..........????? China?

Phy, you crack me up! Actually I thought...what is she talking about...ha! What that is is a floating piece of small dock...I have done that in 3 areas down the shore. By floating these off shore, the mother ducks scoot their young up on them and sleep...safe from predators at night!!! I love watching those little balls of feathers catch a wave and roll right onto the dock! Good eye there kiddo...you caught that tiny thing! Boy...wouldnt that be neat to have a trap door to China...well maybe Italy would be better! Ha!

Beautiful as ever Janie. This looks like a fun image to teach and to learn from. I'm with you, I'd rather the little dock be a doorway to Italy. Ciao Bella

Guy if it were....well I would not be sitting here now would I!! Ha!!! This is what I see out my studio...I am just 20 feet or more from the shore here...even when at the computer...so it is a very tranquil place!

OH! OH! Italy for me too! Isn't it amazing that the mother ducks know to use them for their babies, just leave it to Mother Nature! By the way, Congratulations are in order, I think I read somewhere that you are in the new Splash 12 Watercolor Book!
I know you were in 7 & 9 too (maybe more) So Congratulations again!!!

There have been nights I have seen it covered in ducks...and there are three of these...each about 2x3 feet...because they float level with the water, the ducks can slide right up on them with no effort...and off again to! The babies seem to know instantly what to do. I keep thinking I need to video it to show the DNR as I think every one should do this! Keeps them safe from fox etc!
Yes, I have heard I am in Splash 12 but no official letter yet so am waiting for that before I say much.
So then...are we all meeting in Italy and going through the magic door in the lake????

Very nice painting. Love those sunset colors. Really liked the swan picture. We have Trumpeters around here and they are that kind of painting that is easily saleable when you need a sale in quick time. And they are so great to paint because you can do so much with them as far as design goes.

Actually Gary this is a photo...not a painting...I wish I could do that in watercolor!!

Hi Jane, first time here at your blog but I've seen you a lot at facebook - I love your paintings and your book - yes, I have that too!

OK - the reason I stopped today here to comment is because you mention VELCRO, ha! Did you know that the inventor of velcro is a Suiss person who lived in my neighborhood and is buried in our local community cemetery, just 5 minute walk from my home? George de Mestral is his name and I live in Commugny, Switzerland. Just a little weekend trivia.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing more of your beautiful work!
